My name is Nour, and I’m a first-year medical student at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University. I’m so excited to be here to support you on your journey to med school!

I completed my undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences (HSP) at Western, followed by a Master of Health Science in Global Health Systems, where I had the incredible opportunity to complete an internship at the Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) in Kampala, Uganda.

Like many of you, my path to medicine wasn’t linear. I got in during my second application cycle, so I deeply understand the emotional, mental, and financial toll this process can take. I had an MCAT score of 508, which left me feeling unsure, but I learned that getting into med school is about more than just stats. I leaned into my strengths: I built meaningful experiences through work and volunteering, pursued research and secured multiple publications, and explored personal interests like rock climbing and weight lifting. I strengthened my extracurriculars and found new ways to tell my story.

In my first cycle, I received zero interviews and was crushed. But I took that experience and used it to grow. I learned how to write strong essays that reflect who I am, how to frame my ABS effectively, and how to prepare for interviews with strategy and confidence. The following cycle, I received an interview and acceptance to my top choice, Western.
