You've probably heard a lot of controversial information about how to prep for medical school interviews, and you're confused. I get it. Why can I help you specifically? My motto is that every life experience has a deeper meaning that can be leveraged.

You're probably confused about what I mean by that. Let me explain.

Every question in an interview is about you. Either directly or indirectly.

A direct question asks you directly: tell me about a time you dealt with insecurity...

An indirect question is within a greater context: What are some of best medical innovations of this decade and what are the benefits and consequences to patient care?

You might be confused as to how the indirect question relates to you. Answering the second question the STAR method is the usual answer. Personalization of the question will set you apart. We'll focus on how to answer indirect questions, but also i'll make sure you'll be set for the direct ones too.

My prep process goes more or less like this:

1. Identifying your weakness (2 mock questions off the bat)
2. Trouble coming up with ideas?
3. Poor flow?
4. Speak too much or too little?
5. Poor delivery?
6. Let's review your life experiences and construct a narrative.
7. Let's perfect your narratives for the direct questions. We will review all of your life experiences and group them into groups categories that are easy to adapt for questions along the same theme
8. We will also create shorter versions of these narratives to perfect for use in indirect questions
9. Crash course on ethics and the like
10. I'll do a quick crash course on hot topics and give you some homework: indigenous rights, informed consent, cultural competency, organ donations, MAID, etc.
11. Practice and Feedback
12. Timed mock questions perfecting the direct vs indirect style of questions using your narratives with detailed feedback on content (what else to add, supplementing your answers with other perspectives, how to connect your statements to medicine)
13. Mock Interview
14. Full interview. Suits and blazers of course.
